Septic Tank Trouble?

Chamber faulty leads to New Septic System
We have lived in our house for about 2 years now. Since the time we moved in we have had issues with our septic tank. We have a 1000 gallon tank and about 195 ft. of chambers in our backyard. Our toilet has been overflowing into our house, which has led to replaced carpet twice now, and my son's toilet has basically not worked since 3 months after we moved in. We have had our tank pumped 3 times since living in our home and come to find out this is not normal!
Now that we have been through about $2000 worth of out of pocket damage control to our home we find out we have to have our entire system replaced. We dug up a small portion of the sinkholes that were occurring in our backyard and found out that the ground was collapsed all the way down where the chambers sat. Having two young kids and two dogs running around in our backyard on a daily basis this scared me that the ground could fall in at any point. We then proceeded to bring dirt in and fill the holes. Before we did this we dug it up a little bit and found broken pieces of the chambers in the ground. After having the ground assessed by a professional we had to get a permit where the county came out to asses the property as well.
We waited 2 weeks on our permit, thinking it would be ready the next day and wondered why? the reason was because there was faulty chambers in our backyard that we had no clue about. the company only issued a 5 year warranty on the chambers, which had passed considering the house was 5 years old when we moved in. However, the company is still willing to issue product to the septic company replacing the system in our backyard. Thank God the county knew of this problem when they came out to look at our property or we would have been another $5000 in the hole for something completely out of our hands due to faulty technology.
So if you are having trouble with your septic tank and think you might know why research before you go any further in replacing in. If the county is coming out to look at it you might want to mention this issue to make sure it does not pertain to you, and if it does hopefully you save some money out of the deal! Our new system goes in Monday and hopefully everything goes accordingly.

Interesting Hub! We have a septic tank also and have horror stories about them. So far we haven't had a problem but thanks for sharing your story just in case!
